Articulated Lorry Transport & Full Load Haulage
Articulated lorries move the bulk of UK full load freight: up to 26 pallets and 26 tonnes on a single vehicle, at the lowest cost per pallet of any road option. Johnson's Haulage arranges artic full loads across the UK and into Europe through an approved carrier network.

The cheapest way to move volume by road
Once a consignment reaches around 15 pallets, a dedicated artic is usually cheaper than sending multiple smaller vehicles or paying per-pallet network rates. It is also faster, because the load travels direct with no depot handling.
Checking site access before we book
An artic needs space. Before confirming, we check whether your collection and delivery points can take a 13.5 m trailer, whether loading is by forklift or side curtain, and whether any booking-in slot applies. Where access is doubtful, we recommend an 18 tonne rigid or a transhipment instead of risking a failed delivery.
European full loads
The same trailer types run to and from Europe. For international full loads we manage the customs documentation alongside the transport, so the movement is handled under a single booking rather than split between a haulier and a separate customs agent.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How many pallets fit on an articulated lorry?
Up to 26 standard UK pallets on a standard curtain-sided trailer, subject to a maximum payload of around 26 tonnes.
Do I need a full load to use an artic?
No. Where you have a part load we can arrange shared trailer space, or step down to an 18 tonne rigid if that suits the volume better.
Can an artic deliver to a site with limited access?
Not always. If a 13.5 m trailer cannot turn or reverse safely at the site, we will arrange a smaller vehicle or a transhipment onto a rigid for the final leg.
Do you arrange artic loads to Europe?
Yes — full and part loads to and from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Ireland, with customs documentation handled alongside the transport.
