Luton Van Delivery & Box Van Transport
A Luton van gives you a full box body on a van chassis — square, weatherproof load space with an optional tail lift, ideal for bulky but relatively light goods. Johnson's Haulage arranges Luton work UK-wide for furniture, retail fit-out, catering equipment and general palletised freight.

Best suited to
What this vehicle is used for
- Bulky, lightweight goods such as furniture and packaging
- Retail and hospitality fit-out deliveries
- Deliveries needing a tail lift where no forklift is available
- Four pallets or a full van load of cartons
Volume rather than weight
Luton vans are chosen for cube. The box body is wider and taller than a panel van, so it swallows bulky items that would otherwise need a 7.5 tonne lorry — but the payload is modest, so dense goods such as tiles, stone or metal usually need a rigid instead.
Tail lift deliveries to sites without handling equipment
Where the delivery point has no forklift or loading dock, we specify a tail-lift Luton so pallets can be lowered to ground level safely. Tell us at booking whether either end has handling equipment and we will match the vehicle accordingly rather than leaving it to chance on the day.
Planned deliveries and booking-in
For retail, hospitality and construction deliveries that need a booked slot, our planners handle booking-in with the receiving site and build the timing into the route, so the vehicle arrives inside its window rather than waiting on site.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does a Luton van come with a tail lift?
Many do, but not all. If you need a tail lift, tell us at the point of booking and we will source a tail-lift equipped vehicle from our carrier network.
What is the payload of a Luton van?
Around 1,000 kg on a typical 3.5 tonne Luton. Heavier consignments should move on a 7.5 tonne or 18 tonne rigid.
Can a Luton van deliver to a residential address?
Yes, subject to access. We check for height barriers, narrow lanes and parking restrictions before the vehicle is dispatched.
Is Luton van transport cheaper than a 7.5 tonne lorry?
Usually, for light bulky loads. Where weight is the constraint rather than volume, a 7.5 tonne rigid is often better value per pallet.
Need this vehicle for a job?
Send us the collection and delivery postcodes, weight and dimensions and our Stockport planning team will confirm the right vehicle and a price.
