Lift and place, not just deliver
The value of a Hiab is placement. Rather than dropping a load at the kerb, the crane sets it exactly where it is required — over a fence, into a compound, onto a foundation — which removes the need for a separate lifting contractor on site.
Planning the lift
Every Hiab job needs weight, dimensions, lift radius and ground conditions confirmed in advance. The further out the crane has to reach, the less it can lift, so we take those details at enquiry stage and specify the crane rating accordingly rather than sending a vehicle that cannot complete the lift.
Site safety and documentation
Carriers appointed for crane work operate trained, certificated operators and provide lift plans or RAMS where the site requires them. Tell us the site's documentation requirements at booking and we will make sure they are supplied before arrival.

What is a Hiab vehicle?
A lorry fitted with a hydraulic loader crane, allowing it to lift its own load on and off and place it accurately without site lifting equipment.
How much can a Hiab lift?
It depends on the crane rating and reach. A 65 tonne-metre crane lifts substantially more close to the vehicle than at full extension, so we size the crane against your weight and radius.
Do you provide a lift plan?
Where the site requires a lift plan or RAMS, the appointed carrier supplies them in advance of the delivery.
